The historical marginalization of women and girls inspires our work. The idea of individual liberty is a crucial area of focus for women given the historical social-economic marginalization of women.

Save Her Campaign
Due to the COVID 19 restrictions, the Eastern Youth Caucus utilized the virtual space, FB and Twitter through the production of E-IEC materials with messaging around the effects of child marriages and sensitization of community members to be whistle-blowers so that they can raise timeous alarm for those adolescents girls in dire need of help through the use of a hashtag #BeTheChain Breaker.
Save Her Campaign Impact
The social media campaign pushed the Government of Zimbabwe to speed up the alignment of laws to the Constitution and adoption of the Marriages Bill which clearly outlaws the marrying, pledging or betrothal of children by any person and further criminalizes the role of parents and or guardians in the commission of the offence.
Three community radio programs were aired on Diamond FM which has 1.9 million listeners in Manicaland Province and production of radio jingles with messages related to ending child marriages and stimulating learners’ interest to readmit back to schools.
The third activity implemented under save her campaign was strengthening community hubs where girls at risk can access data and information on legal, psycho-medical support services available to them. The Eastern Youth Caucus brought in service providers and lawyers to provide information in these hubs and do litigation support for those that come forward.
