Staff Writer \u2013 The Zimbabwe Tax Perception Survey (TPS), which we launched on Thursday, 25 September 2025, has received wide support and a growing response rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first survey of its nature by a local think-tank is intended to gather the taxpayers\u2019 perceptions regarding the country\u2019s tax regime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We amplify calls for the government of Zimbabwe to reform the country\u2019s tax regime, which many stakeholders, including think-tanks, labour, businesses, civil society, and ordinary people, have deemed burdensome.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We began the first phase with a general survey questionnaire, which we have now distributed to over 45,000 people, with a huge response rate, through social media and physical engagements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The survey can be accessed via an online link, physical and social media fliers with a scannable barcode, and has also been administered through direct calls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Among the key groups the survey has reached are labour, residents, informal traders, students, civil society and social justice activists, researchers, the media, and entrepreneurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
We have launched the second phase of the survey, including a key informant interview (KII) this week, targeting experts, sectoral leaders, and key stakeholders in the taxation thematic area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The survey will form ZITAP\u2019s evidence-based strategy towards taxation policy and reform advocacy in the country.
