{"id":1340,"date":"2025-07-03T08:43:07","date_gmt":"2025-07-03T08:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tecazw.org\/?p=1340"},"modified":"2025-07-15T10:30:05","modified_gmt":"2025-07-15T10:30:05","slug":"zitap-hosts-dialogue-on-zimbabwes-debt-restructuring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tecazw.org\/?p=1340","title":{"rendered":"ZITAP hosts dialogue on Zimbabwe\u2019s debt restructuring"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Zimbabwe Taxpayers\u2019 Platform (ZITAP) hosted a dialogue platform in collaboration with the African Centre for Governance (ACG) on Zimbabwe\u2019s multilateral debt restructuring process on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting received an update on the ongoing multilateral debt restructuring process, involving the Zimbabwean government and multilateral institutions including the IMF, World Bank, African Development Bank, and European Investment Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debt process is meant to find avenues for easing Zimbabwe\u2019s over 21 billion debt, over USD 12 billion of which is owed to external lenders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting discussed the implications of the process for Zimbabwe\u2019s macroeconomic, social, and political development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The members of civil society and university students present at the meeting discussed strategies for continuing to influence the process and raising public awareness, emphasising equal sharing of the burden of macroeconomic stabilisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ACG has been participating in the process under the Governance Sector Working Groups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>ZITAP has been calling for strengthening fiscal accountability, improving the business environment, sharing the tax burden, and reforming the country\u2019s tax regime.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Zimbabwe Taxpayers\u2019 Platform (ZITAP) hosted a dialogue platform in collaboration with the African Centre for Governance (ACG) on Zimbabwe\u2019s multilateral debt restructuring process on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
