TECA is inspired to contribute to the global movement of liberty and freedom especially in Zimbabwe where the Government is trapped in populist, leftist sentiment in practice but aspires for rapid economic growth in theory.\u00a0 TECa works with the Government, the private sector, the media, and other institutions to promote free enterprise and prosperity in Zimbabwe. The conditions for growth are present, only policy change is needed!<\/span><\/p>\n

Zimbabwe in general, just like other post-colonial states, still struggles with getting her citizens to freely and actively participate in the policy process. The challenge is presented by a government with statist and illiberal sentiment where it believes that high taxation and increased government intervention in the economy will provide necessary goods and services for societal progress.<\/span><\/p>\n

This mode has been a disaster for Zimbabwe leading to periodic lows where inflation tops the world, 355% in 2023, deepening poverty, a collapsed currency and high levels of outward migration.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, on the other hand, Zimbabwe has a very high human capital and natural resource endowment including gold, lithium, diamond, platinum and coal among others. This means Zimbabwe is not a lost case!<\/span><\/p>\n

The opportunity, as Ghanaian scholar George Ayittey framed it, is that: Zimbabwe needs economic freedom, a limited government, and private sector space freedom to flourish. This is at the core of TECA\u2019s work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Limited Government<\/span><\/b>– the Government must be constitutionally constrained in its scope and power. Its role must be limited to promoting individual liberty and prosperity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Private property<\/span><\/b>– the law must enforce the right to acquire, enjoy, and dispose private property without undue interference.<\/span><\/p>\n

Free enterprise<\/span><\/b>– everyone must have the liberty to do business, trade, compete, and cooperate with institutions of their choice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Individual liberty-\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/b>the freedom of choice is crucial in societal development<\/span><\/p>\n
